Winter Wonderland Makeup

Hello and Merry Christmas to all you lovely people!!

I have had such a beautiful week spending some quality time with those whom I love, but I have been awful and totally neglected my blog! Let’s get up to date with what’s happening in the World of Shenai.

Last week I entered a makeup contest for QC Makeup Academy, they had a Winter theme for their contest this month. After looking at all of the different colours and images in their inspirational picture, I finally chose something that was fantasy-esque but still wearable, but dramatic and yet still soft and sweet. Yes, it’s a whole lot of contradiction.

I wanted there to be a lot of frosty purple and blue with hints of warm orange and pinks, as well as crisp white pigments across the eyes and lips. This look had to incorporate fantasy elements as well as beauty elements, which is why the brows are strong but not a definite feature. I wanted my face to look quite angular and sharp, hence the dramatic highlight on my cheekbones and the sculpting on the nose.

This look needed glitter, there was no way I could do a Winter Wonderland look without glitter and rhinestones. I also added two pairs of false lashes, regular Ardell Natural lashes as well as Models Prefer Paper lashes in “Antler” on the outer corner of my eyes. I wanted to use the Antler lashes because they were spindly and kept quite well with the theme of the makeup, but also because deer and reindeer would probably be found in the surrounding area of this characters’ mystical palace. I wanted to incorporate as much of the inspiration picture in to the look as possible.

I kept the blush quite low and thick on the cheeks because it had to look like this character had just walked out of a Winter wasteland and in to her pretty castle. She had to look cold but not frozen, so flushed cheeks were a must. I also added some chunky glitter on to the highlight, just to make it seem as though there were tiny snow flakes on the skin as well. The lips were a soft lilac colour for the same reason as the cheek colour. She had to look cold but not dead. Purple is also the colour of nobility/royalty and I didn’t make it too obvious by adding the white pigment to the centre of the lips as well as the purple gel glitter gloss (which is disgusting to wear. Feels like concrete dust on the lips).

The rhinestones were placed high on the temples, under the eyes and the outer forehead, just to add an element of royalty to the character. It was her frosty crown of glory. I mainly used the white rhinestones to keep in touch with the glitter on the eyes and the highlight on the cheek, but I also added the pearls to maintain that element of royalty. The green and orange gems were for the Wintery forest and sunset that was displayed in the inspiration image.

If you would like to see a video of how I did this makeup, check out the link below, otherwise, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all. Thank you for everything.

Be blessed beauties,
